Alberta Will Open 17 Stores on the 17th

Alberta has received over 800 applications for retail cannabis stores but only 17 will be opening on October 17. Those retailers have interim cannabis licences so that can order and have product shipped to their stores. If they fulfill all conditions they will be issued a sales licence on October 17 and can legally open their doors to the public.

Following October 17, AGLC anticipates a steady increase in the number of operational stores across the province and expects to see roughly 250 stores in business by the end of the first year. According to Alain Maisonneuve, CEO of AGLC, quite a number of applications have completed Stage 1 of the approval process, which is their background check, but there are a lot awaiting Stage 2 municipal approval.

Adults in communities that do not have a retail location can place orders on albertacannabis.org.
