With new stores opening almost weekly in BC and more stores opening in Alberta and Ontario, Canadian cannabis sales increased over 14% in May.
Total cannabis sales in Canada rose to $85.6 million in May, up from $74 million in April and $60 million in March, according to recently released stats from Cannabis Stats.
BC sales increased 37% to $3.5 million, Quebec’s was up 26% to $17.1 million, Ontario’s grew 16% to $22.8 million, and Alberta’s increased 10% to 17.5 million. Canada’s other provinces and territories experienced a lift in sales as well.
Quebec’s increase in sales is attributed to their 16 stores opening seven days a week to deal with the demand in that province.
