July Retail Sales Strong

Retail cannabis sales saw a strong 15.17% increase to $231.6 million in July.

That was due in large part to a whopping 23.49% increase in Ontario over June’s sales, which took their total to over $60 million. We can expect to continue to see large increases in Ontario as more stores open there. 21 new stores opened in July and even more opened in August.

With 507 stores open in July, Alberta’s sales rose 10.89% to $51.8 million.

Neighbouring British Columbia saw sales rise 17.61% to $34.6 million from 262 stores.

Quebec had a steady 9.78% increase to $43.9 million, while only adding one store in July.

The Prairie provinces also saw solid increases of 10.78% in Manitoba and 6.85% in Saskatchewan.

Sales in Eastern Canada saw big spikes as sales finally exceeded pre-COVID levels in PEI, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. Newfoundland and Labrador’s sales grew 25.31% with no new stores opening.
