Nine New Tokyo Smoke Stores in Ontario

Canopy Growth Corporation is expanding its retail footprint, announcing the planned opening of nine new franchised retail stores last week.

All nine brick-and-mortar locations will be opened over the month of January all across Ontario, including four in Toronto and one each in Brantford, Kanata, Nepean, North York, and Scarborough. The company cites the exponential growth of cannabis sales in 2020 as the inspiration for the expansion, saying that these new stores will help address the growing consumer demand and provide more communities with safe, convenient access to high quality, legal cannabis.

“Ontario is the largest market in the country for legal recreational cannabis and it’s where the Tokyo Smoke brand was built—we’re excited to bring our education-first approach to cannabis retail to key communities and regions across the province,” said Lacey Norton, Head of Retail for Tokyo Smoke in a press release. “Through our franchise model, we’re proud to support local independent business owners and entrepreneurs in the pursuit to provide their local communities access to high-quality cannabis products and accessories, along with cannabis education from their team of Education Specialists.”

The expansion will bring the total number of Tokyo Smoke storefronts to 35 across Canada by the end of January, and 22 in the province of Ontario. The brand also has six locations in Alberta, and seven in Manitoba.
