Consumers Want Legacy Strains

Cannabis consumers are very interested in purchasing legacy strains of cannabis, while cannabis beverages and products with cannabinoids appear to be less popular, according to new consumer data.

Cannabis Retailer commissioned Caddle to survey 8,801 Canadians on their cannabis purchasing habits and opinions in February 2024.

Cannabis Purchases

18% of respondents purchased cannabis in the past three months, a notable drop from the past two months. January 2024 survey results found that 24% of respondents had purchased cannabis in the past three months while December 2023 survey results reported 23% of respondents.

In February, 14% of female respondents compared to 21% of male respondents purchased cannabis in the past three months. These numbers have also dropped since December 2023.

Consistent with past survey results, the younger generations had the highest number of respondents that purchased cannabis in the past three months, while the older generations had the lowest number of respondents.
